Fort Liberty PCS Auto Transport — Built Around Military Timelines
Fort Liberty (renamed from Fort Bragg in June 2023) is home to roughly 50,000 active-duty service members — the 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), and the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School. Between paratrooper rotations, JSOC deployments, and family PCS cycles, the volume of vehicles moving in and out of Fayetteville every PCS season is enormous.
Bold Auto Transport handles the part of your move that the on-base TMO (Transportation Management Office) doesn't: door-to-door CONUS shipping. We pick up at on-post family housing on Bastogne, Linden Oaks, or Casablanca, or at off-post addresses anywhere in Fayetteville, Spring Lake, Hope Mills, Raeford, or Cameron — and deliver to the driveway of your next duty station.
Every active duty, veteran, reservist, National Guard, and dependent shipment includes our military discount, $0 deductible insurance, and a single coordinator who keeps your timeline in mind when orders shift.
Popular PCS Lanes from Fort Liberty
The lanes below are the most active PCS routes we run out of Fayetteville. Prices are real averages from the past 90 days for standard sedans and SUVs in operable condition. Full-size trucks and three-row SUVs typically run 10–15% higher. The military discount is applied at booking — call (469) 942-5444 or get a quote online.
| Route | Distance | Avg Open Rate | Transit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fort Liberty → Fort Cavazos (TX) | ~1,250 mi | $795–$975 | 4–7 days |
| Fort Liberty → JBLM (WA) | ~2,830 mi | $1,250–$1,475 | 8–12 days |
| Fort Liberty → Fort Carson (CO) | ~1,750 mi | $975–$1,175 | 6–9 days |
| Fort Liberty → Fort Stewart (GA) | ~360 mi | $575–$700 | 2–4 days |
| Fort Liberty → Schofield Barracks (HI port: Long Beach) | ~2,650 mi to port | $1,200–$1,425 | 8–11 days to port |
| Fort Liberty → Camp Pendleton (CA) | ~2,450 mi | $1,150–$1,375 | 7–10 days |
| Fort Liberty → Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (NJ) | ~520 mi | $650–$825 | 3–5 days |
Reverse-direction routes (e.g., Fort Cavazos → Fort Liberty) tend to run 5–10% higher because of carrier imbalance — more capacity heads out of Texas than into it during PCS season.
PCS Timing Strategy for Fort Liberty
Fort Liberty's PCS rhythm peaks May through early September, with a second smaller spike in November–December. If your orders fall inside that window, book early. The dispatch math is simple: more service members trying to ship on the same days means tighter carrier supply and higher spot rates.
- 4+ weeks out: Best pricing and full flexibility on pickup window. Recommended if you have a hard report no later than date and you're crossing a high-demand corridor (NC → TX, NC → WA, NC → CA).
- 2–3 weeks out: Solid availability. This is where most Fort Liberty PCS shipments book.
- Inside 7 days: Possible on shorter regional lanes (NC → GA, NC → VA). Cross-country expedites carry a 25–40% premium.
- Port-call coordination: If you're OCONUS-bound and your POV is heading to a VPC port (Baltimore is closest to Fort Liberty), schedule the door-to-port pickup so the vehicle arrives 5–7 business days before your turn-in window. The VPC won't accept vehicles too early, and arriving late forfeits your slot.
- No-cost storage at TMO: If your orders shift after the vehicle is already in transit, your TMO can sometimes hold one POV at no cost — but talk to them before dispatch, not after.
Bold's coordinators work around your report date, not the other way around. If your orders amend, reschedule at no penalty.
Gate Access at Fort Liberty
You don't need a base pass to ship a vehicle with Bold — pickup and delivery happen at your residence, not on post. But if you're coordinating an on-post pickup at family housing, here's how gate access works:
- All American Gate (Reilly Rd / Hwy 24) and Knox Gate are the primary visitor entry points. Knox Gate has the dedicated Visitor Control Center for non-DoD ID holders.
- Carrier drivers without DoD credentials can be sponsored for gate access by an active-duty sponsor or via the visitor center process. Most of our drivers prefer to coordinate the pickup at a nearby off-post address — a Walmart parking lot, your apartment complex, or a commercial cross-street — so we don't tie up a gate for 30 minutes.
- All-American Freeway is the main artery into post and runs heavy from 0530–0830 and 1530–1830. If we're scheduling an on-post or near-gate pickup, your driver will work around those windows.
- Off-post pickup zones we use most: Cross Creek Mall area, Skibo Rd commercial strip, Westwood Shopping Center, Hope Mills Walmart, and Spring Lake near Bragg Blvd / NC-87.
If on-post pickup at family housing is required, your coordinator will sort out sponsor coordination before dispatch. Just give us a heads-up at booking.
Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) Handoff for OCONUS PCS
For service members heading to Germany, Italy, Korea, or Japan, the military covers POV shipment to the OCONUS port through the Vehicle Processing Center network (currently operated by IAL under DoD contract). For Fort Liberty PCS, the closest VPC is Baltimore, MD for Europe-bound POVs and Jacksonville, FL as a secondary option.
Bold doesn't replace the VPC — we complement it. Here's the difference:
- What TMO/VPC handles: Free POV shipment from the U.S. port to your overseas destination. You drive your vehicle to the VPC and turn it in within your window.
- What Bold handles: The CONUS leg from Fayetteville to the VPC if you don't want to drive it yourself. Common scenarios: you're flying out before the VPC turn-in window, you don't have leave to drive 6 hours to Baltimore, or you have a second family vehicle that doesn't qualify for free POV shipment.
- Second vehicle / family vehicle: The DoD only covers one POV. If you're shipping a second car (very common — spouse's vehicle, second family vehicle), Bold ships it to your CONUS storage destination, parents' driveway, or designated relative anywhere in the lower 48.
- Returning OCONUS to CONUS: When your POV arrives back stateside at a VPC, Bold picks up at the port and delivers to your new duty station, home of record, or any address you specify. The military discount applies to this domestic leg.
Real PCS Scenarios from Fort Liberty
PCS-ing from Fort Liberty to Germany (Ramstein / Wiesbaden / Vilseck)
You drop your POV at the Baltimore VPC for free overseas shipment. Bold handles the second family vehicle — pickup in Fayetteville, delivery to your in-laws in Tampa for storage during the tour. When you rotate back, we pick up from Tampa and deliver to your next CONUS station. Net cost on the storage-leg shipment: roughly $700–$900 with the military discount.
OCONUS PCS to Korea (Camp Humphreys)
Tour-restricted POV shipping for Korea is more complicated and depends on whether dependents are accompanied or unaccompanied. Bold's lane from Fayetteville to the VPC at Tacoma, WA runs about $1,250–$1,475 if you can't drive it cross-country yourself.
ETS Separation from Fort Liberty
Out-processing in 30 days, settling in Texas after ETS? We pick up your vehicle the day after your final out-processing appointment and deliver to your new address. No need to coordinate around terminal leave drives.
Cross-Country PCS to JBLM or Lewis-McChord (WA)
This is one of our highest-volume lanes from Fort Liberty. Roughly 2,830 miles, 8–12 days transit, $1,250–$1,475 with the military discount. Most of our customers fly out, and we deliver the vehicle to JBLM family housing or off-post in Lakewood, DuPont, or Tacoma.
Bold's Military Discount Applies on Every Order
Bold offers a military discount on every shipment for active duty, veterans, reservists, National Guard, and dependents. No promo code needed — mention your status at booking and your coordinator applies it automatically. The discount stacks with multi-vehicle pricing, so if you're shipping two cars on the same lane, both get the military rate.
What we need at booking: your branch and status. We don't require uploaded DD-214s or extensive verification. A military ID, VA card, or stated status is enough.
See the full military car shipping discount page for stacking rules and reimbursement documentation. For pricing on standard open carrier or enclosed transport, those rates apply with the military discount layered on top.
What to Expect — Pickup and Delivery
The driver calls 24 hours ahead with a 2-hour pickup window, and again 30–60 minutes before arrival. Wash the vehicle so existing scratches are easy to document. Reduce fuel to a quarter tank. Remove personal items above the trunk floor. Have your keys and a photo ID ready.
Inspection happens in front of you — the driver completes a Bill of Lading (BOL), marks any pre-existing damage on the diagram, and takes photos. You sign the BOL. Take your own timestamped photos as backup. The BOL is the legal record for any insurance claim, so don't skip the inspection step.
At delivery, you (or your designee — a parent, spouse, or trusted contact) walk the vehicle with the driver, compare to the BOL, and sign. Any discrepancy must be noted on the BOL before signing. Carrier balance is paid on delivery in cash, certified check, or money order — your coordinator confirms the amount 48 hours before delivery.

Fort Liberty Auto Transport FAQs
PCS questions we hear most often from 82nd Airborne, USASOC, and JFK Special Warfare families.
How much does it cost to ship a car from Fort Liberty?
Open carrier rates from Fort Liberty range from about $575 (regional, 360 mi to Fort Stewart) to $1,475 (cross-country, 2,830 mi to JBLM) with the military discount applied. Use our cost calculator for your specific lane.
Do you pick up on post at Fort Liberty?
Yes — most pickups happen off-post in Fayetteville, Spring Lake, or Hope Mills for speed, but on-post family housing pickups can be coordinated through your sponsor and Knox Gate's Visitor Control Center. Tell your coordinator at booking and we'll sort the gate access ahead of dispatch.
Can Bold ship my POV to the Baltimore VPC for OCONUS PCS?
Yes. The Fayetteville → Baltimore VPC lane runs about $475–$625 with the military discount. Schedule pickup so the vehicle arrives 5–7 business days before your VPC turn-in window — too early and the VPC won't accept it; too late and you forfeit your slot.
What if my PCS orders change after I book?
Tell your coordinator. We reschedule or cancel at no penalty. We work with Fort Liberty PCS families every week and the system is built for orders that move.
Will the military reimburse this shipment?
For PCS moves, typically yes — through your TMO/PPSO. Bold provides itemized invoices, BOLs, and proof of delivery formatted for military reimbursement. Confirm your specific entitlement with the Fort Liberty Personal Property Shipping Office before you ship.
Do you ship to Schofield Barracks or Hawaii?
We handle the CONUS leg to the West Coast port (Long Beach for HI-bound POVs). Once your vehicle is on the boat, the DoD VPC contractor (IAL) handles the ocean shipment. When it lands, we can also handle the Honolulu-side delivery if needed.
