Fort Bliss PCS Auto Transport — Border-Region Logistics, Cross-Country Lanes
Fort Bliss is one of the largest installations in the Army, sitting on the El Paso, TX / New Mexico state line and home to the 1st Armored Division. The base spans hundreds of square miles into south-central New Mexico — the maneuver area is enormous, and the PCS volume reflects that. Most outgoing PCS lanes from Fort Bliss are long-haul because El Paso is geographically isolated from most other major Army posts.
Bold Auto Transport handles door-to-door CONUS shipping for Fort Bliss families. We pick up at on-post family housing (Aztec, Magrath Manor, Pershing Heights) or at off-post addresses anywhere in El Paso, Northeast El Paso, Horizon City, Sunland Park (NM), or Las Cruces — and deliver to the driveway of your next duty station.
Every active duty, veteran, reservist, National Guard, and dependent shipment includes our military discount, $0 deductible insurance, and a single coordinator. The El Paso geography matters — your coordinator factors lane availability and dispatch timing into your pickup window.
Popular PCS Lanes from Fort Bliss
The lanes below are the most active PCS routes we run out of El Paso. Prices are real averages for standard sedans and SUVs in operable condition. Full-size trucks and three-row SUVs run 10–15% higher. Military discount applied at booking — call (469) 942-5444 or quote online.

El Paso is a low-density origin for auto transport — fewer carriers run dedicated El Paso lanes than out of Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio. Lead time matters more here than at higher-volume posts. Booking 3+ weeks out makes a meaningful difference.
PCS Timing Strategy for Fort Bliss
Fort Bliss PCS volume peaks May through August, in line with Army-wide PCS season. Because El Paso is geographically isolated, dispatch on cross-country lanes can take 3–5 extra days versus higher-density origins. Plan accordingly.
- 4+ weeks out: Strongly recommended for any cross-country PCS during May–August. El Paso carrier supply is thinner than most Army posts.
- 2–3 weeks out: Most Bliss PCS shipments book here. Solid availability on Texas-internal and Southwest regional lanes.
- Inside 7 days: Possible on regional lanes (TX-internal, NM, AZ, CO). Cross-country expedites add 25–40% premium.
- Korea PCS through Tacoma VPC: Bliss → Tacoma is a long lane (~1,650 mi). Schedule pickup so the vehicle arrives at the VPC 5–7 business days before turn-in.
- Germany / Italy PCS: Baltimore VPC is the standard East Coast option. Bliss → Baltimore runs about $1,150–$1,375.
Gate Access at Fort Bliss
You don't need a base pass to ship a vehicle with Bold — most pickups happen off-post. For on-post family housing pickups:
- Buffalo Soldier Gate (Sergeant Major Blvd) is the primary visitor entry, with the Visitor Control Center nearby for non-DoD ID processing.
- Cassidy Gate and Old Ironsides Gate serve specific housing areas and units.
- Carrier drivers without DoD credentials are typically sponsored by an active-duty member or routed through the visitor center. Most Bold carriers prefer off-post pickup at a commercial cross-street.
- Off-post pickup zones we use most: Northeast El Paso (Dyer Street commercial strip), Cielo Vista Mall area, Horizon City off I-10, and Las Cruces / I-25 commercial intersections for north-bound carriers.
For on-post pickups at Aztec, Magrath, or Pershing Heights, your coordinator handles sponsor sign-in before dispatch.
Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) Handoff for OCONUS PCS
Fort Bliss service members PCS-ing OCONUS ship POVs through the DoD's Vehicle Processing Center network (currently IAL). Closest VPCs:
- Long Beach, CA — Japan, Korea, Hawaii, Pacific destinations (~825 mi from El Paso)
- Tacoma, WA — Korea-bound POVs (~1,650 mi)
- Baltimore, MD — Europe-bound POVs (~2,000 mi)
- Houston, TX — secondary option for some Pacific routes (~750 mi)
What Bold handles vs. what TMO handles:
- What TMO/VPC handles: Free POV ocean shipment from U.S. port to your overseas duty station.
- What Bold handles: The CONUS leg from El Paso to the VPC if you can't drive it yourself, or the second-vehicle shipment to a stateside storage destination.
- Second vehicle: The DoD covers one POV. A second car ships via Bold to a relative's address or storage destination.
- Returning OCONUS to CONUS: When your POV lands back at a U.S. VPC, Bold picks up at the port and delivers anywhere in the lower 48.

Fort Bliss Auto Transport FAQs
PCS questions we hear from 1st Armored Division families.
How much does it cost to ship a car from Fort Bliss?
Open carrier rates from Fort Bliss range from about $625 (regional, 530 mi to Fort Cavazos) to $1,375 (cross-country, 2,000 mi to Baltimore VPC) with the military discount applied. Use our cost calculator for your specific lane.
Why do El Paso shipments sometimes take longer to dispatch?
El Paso is a lower-density origin than Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio — fewer carriers run dedicated El Paso lanes daily. Booking 3+ weeks out gives the dispatch team enough runway to lock in a carrier without paying an expedite premium.
Do you pick up on post at Fort Bliss?
Yes — most pickups happen off-post in El Paso for speed, but on-post family housing pickups (Aztec, Magrath, Pershing Heights) can be coordinated through the Buffalo Soldier Gate Visitor Control Center. Tell your coordinator at booking.
What if my orders change?
Tell your coordinator. We reschedule or cancel at no penalty.
Will the Army reimburse this shipment?
For PCS moves, typically yes — through your TMO/PPSO. We provide invoices and BOLs formatted for reimbursement. Confirm specific entitlements with the Fort Bliss Personal Property Shipping Office before you ship.
Can I ship a second vehicle?
Yes — military discount stacks with multi-vehicle pricing. The DoD only covers one POV through TMO; a second vehicle ships via Bold to a CONUS storage destination or your next duty station.
